A recent 8-inch snowfall has enticed me to partake in the White Mountains' winter wonderland and continued ski season.
I lodged at the quaint Snowflake Inn in Jackson, N.H. It offered amenities such as an in-room fireplace, a whirlpool bath and massage services. One would never want to leave her room if it weren't for the great views and hidden-away galleries.
While exploring the Inn, I stumbled upon a pleasant surprise. The Inn had two in-house galleries. A local Bartlett, N.H., photographer, Dana Clemons, owner of White Mountain Photography and Photo Gallery, has captured the best of the nature this region has to offer. Natural wildlife, attractions, mountain summits, ponds, lakes and flora are so beautifully picturesque and showcased eloquently in his gallery. Guests of the Inn can easily find one of Dana's pieces that would work in any home decorating style. Whether for the family room, office or even the kitchen, this photographer has something for everyone. Dana has many offerings that can be viewed on his website at whitemountainphoto.com.
Adjacent to Dana's gallery is the Cassidy Gallery at Jackson Village. Owner Nancy White Cassidy is a recent transplant to the White Mountain area from Connecticut. She has created an enchanting gallery of fine art and unique creations from artists near and far. Her own illustrations of wildlife, art and accessories are a wonderful find and showcased throughout the hallways of the inn. My favorites were the brightly colored birds she has classically captured in detail. While admiring her gallery, she had asked where I was from, and when I replied Lowell, her eyes lit up and she pointed out a few Lowell artists' works featured in her gallery.
Peter Zimmerman's blown glass is intriguing and wonderful. His creations can be found smattered throughout the gallery. One unique creation was an emerald green glass vase. So pretty and delicate, it was a pleasure to see his work being showcased in Nancy's gallery. Not limited to vases, Peter's intriguing glass accent pieces embellish the gallery. Peter works out of his Western Avenue artist studio in Lowell. More information on Peter and his work can be found at pzdig.com and cassidygallery.com/artist_zimmerman.html.
Ilene Richard is another Lowell artist showcasing some of her work in Nancy's gallery. Her whimsical, bright and vibrant illustrations put a smile on your face and would be a fantastic enhancement to any interior space. Ilene's colorful art is a perfect addition for that space thirsting for a bright pop of color.
Even in a neutral room begging for character, one of Ilene's works in bright oranges, reds and blues as an accent piece would be a perfect fit.ilenerichard.com.
I was pleasantly surprised to find some wonderful interior décor accessories in the Cassidy Gallery. Read about the gallery at cassidygallery.com. It's always interesting when exploring shops and galleries while away; the journey always brings me back home.
