LOWELL -- The Association of Clinical Laboratory Students (ACLS) Club at UMass Lowsell is marking the anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombings by hosting an American Red Cross Blood Drive on Tuesday, April 22. The drive will take place from 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, at Cumnock Hall, University Avenue, on the North campus. Those wanting to give blood can walk in the day of the event.. The event coincides with Medical Laboratory Professionals Week, April 21-25, which highlights the work of those working in blood bank labs collect blood from donors, test the donor blood for infectious diseases, process the blood into the various blood cell components, and finally, ensure that the donor blood and blood products are safe to transfuse to the patient in need.
Kids in Disability Sports plan golf tourney
DRACUT -- Kids in Disability Sports, Inc. ("K.I.D.S.") will host the third annual Kids in Disability Sports Golf Classic on Tuesday, June 24, at Four Oaks Country Club, with registration at 11:30 a.m. and shotgun start at 1 p.m. The entry fee $175 per player or $700 per foursome. Friends of Pollard Library holding book sale
LOWELL -- The Friends of the Pollard Library will hold their annual book sale from 8 to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 15, with a members only preview from 4 to 8 p.m.; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, May 16; and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 17, in the ground floor meeting room of the library at 401 Merrimack St.
Book donations are being accepted from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday April 19, May 3 and May 10 at the ground floor entrance of the library. Hardcover and paperback books for all age groups, audiobooks (both cassettes and CDs), music CDs and DVDs, movie DVDs, and computer software/games, will be accepted. Magazines, videotapes, or any items that are tattered, musty, or mildewed cannot be accepted.

Tyngsboro High student organizes clothing drive
TYNGSBORO -- As a part of Tyngsboro High School's Service learning class, Kelly Hardy is collecting children's clothing donations for the Cradles to Crayons Organization. New and gently used clothing items are being accepted up to adult size small until May 2. All of the clothing will be donated to families in greater Boston. Drop off locations are Amazing Minds Childcare, 315 Middlesex Road, St. Mary Magdalen Parish, 95 Lakeview Ave., and at the Tyngsboro Town Hall, 25 Bryant's Lane.
PAV Club offering spaghetti dinner
LOWELL -- The Polish American Veterans Club, 201 Coburn St., will hold a spaghetti dinner from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, to benefit agencies of the Lowell Hunger Homeless Commission. The event will feature children's activities and raffles. Admission is $5 per person, $12 per family.
