N. CHELMSFORD -- Ben Adams will hold a concert at the Chelmsford Community Center, 31 Princeton St., on Monday, April 21, from 6:30 to 9 p.m., to benefit the Lielebloem House, an orphanage in South Africa. The concert will support Adams' Eagle Project, which is to send homemade backpacks filled with soap, towels, shampoo and dental hygiene supplies to the underprivileged children of Lielebloem. He is also sending recorders (inexpensive musical instruments) in the hope that music will enrich their lives.

Adams, 17, is an avid cellist and composer and studies music in Boston with Mark Churchill and Rodney Lister. He is a member of the Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra. He has been involved in Boy Scouts since he was 8, and is excited to help out Lielebloem, which he was privileged to visit four years ago when he was on tour with the Boston City Singers, a youth chorus.

Monday's concert will feature works by Prokofiev, Bach, Judith Weir and Boccherini. The concert will also feature the first movement of Ben Adams' own cello concerto, entitled "Boott Mill."
