LOWELL -- Showcase Cinemas Lowell, located at 32 Reiss Ave., will host two special events in the next couple of weeks.

On Thursday, Feb. 27, the theater will offer a screening of National Theatre's War Horse, simulcast live directly from London's West End at 7 p.m. Based on Michael Morpurgo's novel and adapted for the stage by Nick Stafford, War Horse takes audiences on a journey from the fields of rural Devon in the United Kingdom to the trenches of First World War France.

On Thursday, March 6, Showcase will also hold a screening of the new music documentary Lamb of God's As The Palaces Burn at 8 p.m. The documentary follows the popular heavy metal band on tour, where the film crew also found itself in the middle of a surprising manslaughter investigation of lead singer Randy Blythe.
