Dracut C 24

Concord-Carlisle 0

The Dracut C team improved its record to 5-0 in the Merrimack Valley League by bombing Concord-Carlisle 24-0. The undefeated Middies recorded their fourth straight shutout as they gear up a pivotal game next week against Lawrence for the Division 2 title.

As has been the case all year, Dracut's defense held strong and forced a quick punt by the Patriots on their first possession. Concord's ensuing kick turned into a 70-yard punt return touchdown by Aise Pream, who followed some excellent blocks by Nathan Ripley, Michael Tusa, Anthony Marquez, Kyle Proulx and Michael Canney, which put the Middies up 6-0.

Matt Rossetti recovered Peter Sawyer's onside kick to get the ball back for Dracut. This resulted in an 18-yard touchdown run by Aise Pream who sprung to the outside on some nice trap blocking by Alex Reis and Tyler Middlemiss to increase Dracut's lead to 12-0 as the first quarter ended.

The Middies put on a time-consuming drive early in the second quarter with some dazzling runs by Matt Rossetti and Lucas Ibarguen but Concord's defense tightened up and took the ball over on downs. The Patriots picked up some positive yards before Dracut halted them deep in their end. Devin Lambert hit Yan Gonzalez with a perfect spiral to open up Dracut's passing game. With time running out in the first half, Aise Pream connected with Lincoln Lessard on a 72-yard touchdown pass to make the score 18-0 for the Middies.

The third quarter was scoreless but Dracut's defense came up with two incredible goal-line stands. A 42-yard punt return by Concord put them in excellent scoring position inside the Middies' 10-yard line but aggressive tackling on the following four downs by Gilbert Ruiz, Jacob Nadreau, Jacob Beaulieu, Ethan Holt, Denis Bourassa and Charlie Kefauver prevented the Patriots from reaching the end zone.

A late flag on the fourth down play gave Concord a first and goal at the Dracut 3-yard line, but once again the Middies defenders stood tall. Jared Fahey, Eric Ariosus, Max Barton and Javier Faria simply refused to let Concord score. Their jarring tackles and quarterback sack by Yan Gonzalez preserved the whitewash for Dracut.

Dracut moved the ball up and down the field in the fourth quarter with Matt Simpson making a nice 28-yard catch. Devin Lambert (12 yards), Lincoln Lessard (17 yards) and Aise Pream (67 yards) had exciting runs before the Middies scored again on Lucas Ibarguen's 7-yard touchdown reception. Peter Sawyer recovered Concord's fumbled kickoff return to safeguard Dracut's 24-0 victory.
