Dracut's Pop Warner Football Teams prepared for their upcoming seasons by scrimmaging Everett and Burlington. The Middies C Team performed well and looked impressive on both sides of the ball as they tallied several touchdowns and held Everett to one score. They had another fine winning effort against Burlington as they prepare for the season opener against Billerica.

Dracut D-Blue opens 2013 season with a big win over Billerica with the score of 26-0. The team was led by quarterback Aidan Maston who rushed for a touchdown an extra point and a passing touchdown. Ian Nichols rushed for two touchdowns and had an interception. Jakob Rivers ran back a kickoff to the house. Shawn McGuire had a reception and turned on the jets for a touchdown. Sloan Carter rushed in an extra point. Aiden McCarthy took charge of the offensive line and kept Billerica's D out of the backfield with help from Connor Foley. On the defensive side of the ball, Ian Nichols and Shawn McGuire locked down the corners while J.C. Santiago, Nick Zeoli took care of the middle and Joshua Gagnon handled the secondary. Xavier Faria had two sacks, Brian Mwangi forced a fumble, and Ray Laurin, Lucas Enwright and Stephan Pinto put pressure on Billerica all day.

Dracut MM-Blue

Dracuts Mighty Mite blue team turned in a great effort against a tough visiting Billerica football team Sunday.


Dracut's offense exploded in the first half with touchdown runs from Lincoln Beal and Timin Carter. Quarterback Riley Nichols threw a 45-yard touchdown pass behind stellar pass protection from his linemen Nick Tusa, Aiden Saunders, Rocco Geraci, Ethan Sawyer, Drew Richardson, and A.J. Rasmussen. Key long runs by Kia Mcdonald and Kevin O'Brien set up both scoring opportunities.

The second half started off with a long drive by Dracut ending with a 35-yard scoring run by Dylan Eld with key blocks from Kevin Obrien and Kia Mcdonald opening the way. Dracut's standout defensive line, led by veterans Bradon Bourassa, Spencer Teneriello, Justin Ryan and Anthony Rivera, held Billerica's offense stagnate most of the afternoon. Dracut's outside quartet of Nicholas Saywer, Michael Marchionda, Jayson Golden and Kevin O'Brien contained Billerica's speedy backfield throughout the contest.
