DRACUT -- The Dracut High School cheerleading team recently won its third consecutive state championship to top off its undefeated season.

With just 12 girls competing, and after losing eight seniors last year, they were determined to capture the title, and did just that.

Dracut is looking forward to the 2014 winter season when the Middies will have the chance to become New England champions for the second year in a row.

SHIRLEY -- The Ayer-Shirley Youth Football 12-under cheerleading team recently finished one of New England's top three teams in its division.

The squad has qualified for nationals in Orlando, Fla., on Dec. 14.

The organization is seeking sponsors for the cheerleaders and coaches to make the trip.

Sponsorship of one girl/coach will be $600. Contributions can be made by check, payable to ASYFC. Contributions can be made online at www.gofundme.com/5fw65g.
