A tough and demanding season ended for the Dracut Girls 7th Grade Travel Basketball Team as they lost to Merrimack in the Elite 8 Division 1 River Valley League Playoffs.
The Lady Middies gave their best effort in this closer than the score looks contest and were in striking distance throughout the game. Merrimack did a much better job at the charity stripe and hit several late outside jump shots late in the match to grab the win.
Though the girls are disappointed with the results of their season, they battled hard all year and dealt with enough serious injuries to fill a hospital ward. They certainly led the league in the number of ice packs, casts, crutches, braces, boots and bandages used by a team.
Despite being shorthanded all season, Dracut managed to repeat as Waldie Tournament Champions and were competitive in the top River Valley League games. Knowing that their next season starts today, the hard working Lady Middies will be back next year determined to compete for the title.
