Boys

The Dracut Boys 6th Grade Travel Basketball Team had a difficult weekend as they lost three of four games. The Middies will need to increase their energy and improve their intensity with the Merrimack Valley playoffs quickly coming up.

Westford 39

Dracut 31

An 18-7 Dracut team lost their third game in a row to a fired up Westford Squad 39-31. Dracut was outworked and outrebounded by the below .500 Grey Ghosts in this frustrating loss. Michael Patterson (5), Jovan Aigbekaen (3) and Tyler Pacheco (2) collected rebounds

Andover Blue 49

Dracut 36

The Middies dropped their fourth consecutive game 49-36 to a highly motivated Andover Blue lineup, proving once again that hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard. Kevin Carney had 6 points and William Peters grabbed 9 rebounds for the Middies. One bright spot was the inspired play of Jaeden Hylton who hustled all over the court with 3 rebounds, causing havoc on defense.

Dracut 46

Tewksbury 39

Despite committing 26 turnovers, the Middies were able to escape with a 46-39 victory over a 1-18 Tewksbury Red squad. An even offensive attack saw 10 players score for the 19-8 Dracut team. On the scoreboard were Cam McCullough (9) and Colby Manzueta (3) as Josh Hastie made 2 steals to help the Middies snap their four-game losing slide.

Haverhill 61

Dracut 51

A much improved overall effort saw the boys scrap intensely throughout a 61-51 loss to a one-loss Haverhill Hilltoppers team. Guards Mitchell Monette (16), Aise Pream (14) and Jeremy Gray (7) led the scoring for Dracut. The 19-9 Middies made several rallies to cut back the double digit deficit before Haverhill went into playground mode with some dazzling passing.

Girls

Westford 43

Dracut 38

Down 4 players, the Dracut Girls 7th Grade Travel Basketball Team performed

admirably in a hard-fought loss to Westford 43-38 and their talented tall trio frontcourt. The Lady Middies fell behind early by 10 points but never gave up as they went on a 20-2 run to grab a 26-18 half-time lead. With the Grey Ghosts' guards outside shooting heating up, a tired 10-8 Dracut squad lost the lead late in the contest during this back and forth battle. Melissa Iannuzzo (10), Meghan Carney (9), Olivia Pantano (6), Lilly King (5), Julianna Fagan (4), Emily Cloutier (2) and Jaxy Marquez (2) scored points for Dracut. Despite this grueling defeat, the Lady Middies remain in the playoff hunt in the tough Merrimack Valley League.
