PELHAM -- Due to unfavorable weather on May 4, Pelham Parks and Recreation postponed the Junior Olympic Skills competition at Memorial School to this weekend.

The rescheduled competition will be held May 11 from 2 to 4 p.m.

"We realize it's Mother's Day, but that's the final day (the skills competition) can be run in time to qualify for the regionals," explained Kathy Carr, Pelham Parks and Recreation spokesperson. "The later time is an effort to at least bypass brunch and lunch."

Carr reminds Dispatch readers that this "fun challenge" is open to boys and girls 8 to 13, free of charge. Participants may register in advance at the Pelham Parks and Recreation office, or on the day of the competition, which includes basketball, soccer, track and field, and tennis.

The event is also open to youngsters of surrounding communities.
