PELHAM, N.H. -- A 23-year-old Lowell woman was arrested Wednesday night after driving drunk and striking a utility box in a stranger's yard, according to police.
Michaela Pimentel has been charged with driving under the influence, criminal mischief, conduct after an accident, and a solid line violation.
Shortly after 9 p.m. Wednesday, police were dispatched to Bridge Street after a hit-and-run crash on Beacon Hill Road.
The caller reported that a 2013 Mazda 3 sedan had followed her home and pulled into her driveway. Pimentel allegedly said at the time she was told to follow her because a man was in the caller's rear seat. The caller did not know Pimentel, and there was no one in her car.
The caller noticed Pimentel was drunk, and asked if she needed help. Pimentel then got back into her car, drove across the grass and struck a utility box in the yard.
A Pelham officer minutes later located the freshly damaged Mazda driving south on Bridge Street. The officer stopped the car, observed signs of impairment, and arrested Pimentel.
She was released on personal recognizance to a sober adult. She will be arraigned in Salem District Court on Oct. 22.
