In a two-way race for the lone open Housing Authority seat, incumbent George M. Nangle won re-election with 1,847 votes to challenger Frederick W. Spicer Jr.'s 1,002 tallies.
Nangle, a building manager who has served on the DHA board for about 11 years, did not immediately respond to calls for comment Monday night.
"Obviously, I would have loved to win, but for somebody's first time running, I feel that I was running against a political machine in town," said Spicer, a retiree who sits on the Conservation Commission and worked for 30 years in financial management for the U.S. Air Force. "I did good. I lost by 800 votes. To me, that's pretty darn good. ... I didn't get the results that I was hoping for, but I made a statement, got some facts out."
