LOWELL - On Oct. 22, the popular 31st annual Taste of the Town, hosted by the Lowell General Hospital Auxiliary, was held at the UMass Lowell Inn & Conference Center. Returning for the second time was special celebrity guest Billy Costa, a Boston radio and TV personality featured on KISS 108's "Matty in Morning" show and co-host of NESN's "Dining Playbook."

More than 330 guests enjoyed an evening of tastings, featuring specialties from some of the best restaurants, caterers and chefs around. They offered their culinary specialties and competed for best appetizer, best entrée and best dessert, as well as the Chairman's Choice Award for the best table presentation.

The 14 dedicated and professional restaurants were Nobo, NoLo Bistro and Bar at the Stonehedge Hotel and Spa, The Stones Hospitality Group, 110 Grill, Burton's Grill, Evviva Cucina, Sodexo, Two Chefs are Better Than One, Aramark UMass Lowell Inn & Conference Center, I Dream of Jeanne Cakes, The Establishment, Mariano's, Andiamo and The Irish Cottage.

The winners included: Nobo for Best Appetizer, for the Kobe Spring Rolls; Sodexo for Best Entrée for the Lobster Mac and Cheese; Two Chefs are Better than One for Best Dessert for the Chocolate Pots du Creme; and Aramark at UMass Lowell Inn & Conference Center for the Chairman's Choice Award.
