DRACUT- On March 6, Lowell. Women's Week celebrated its 22nd annual breakfast at Lenzi's. The theme of this great inspiring breakfast was "Women Taking a Stand - Roaring into the Future!"

More than 270 enthusiastic and sharp-looking ladies enjoyed a morning of networking, a delicious breakfast and informational speeches. The powerhouse woman that kicked off the breakfast, extremely dedicated ladies in their communities, are: JoAnne Marcos of Lowell National Historical Park; emcee Lianna Kushi, executive director of the Entrepreneurship for All Lowell-Lawrence English language program; UMass Lowell Protestant Minister Imogene Stulken; U.S Rep. Niki Tsongas; state Sen. Eileen Donoghue; U.S. Sen.

Elizabeth Warren; City Councilor Rita Mercier; and keynote speaker Julie Chen, Ph.D., vice chancellor for research and innovation at UMass Lowell.

The 2017 Because of Her Award was given to Louise Griffin, Phousita S. Huy, Sally Thayer and Kolab Tho, all of Lowell. The award recognizes local women who have significantly changed the lives of others through compassion, courage, commitment, leadership and activism.
