DRACUT -- Hundreds turned out to honor Capt. John Ogonowski at St. Francis Church for the Captain John Ogonowski Memorial Farmer's Market and Food Drive on Sept. 10 and 11.

The farmer, pilot of American Airlines Flight 11 on Sept. 11, 2001, and St. Francis parishioner was remembered fondly by many as they dropped off donations at the food truck to benefit the Dracut Food Pantry or purchased florals and produce to benefit the parish's St. Teresa Homeless Ministry.

Many traveled a distance, including Newburyport, Somerville and Providence, Rhode Island, to honor Ogonowski and support the Ogonowski family.

By the end of the event, the spacious food truck floor was 100 percent filled with bags and boxes piled three and four deep.

As a result, the shelves of the Dracut Food Pantry are no longer sparse -- thanks to the memory of Capt. John Ogonowski, who loved farming and helping others.
