TEWKSBURY -- Police arrested three men on drug trafficking charges on Tuesday and seized more than $300,000 in heroin.
In a statement, police said the men were acting suspiciously in the parking lot of the Home Depot, then stopped their vehicle on Main Street. Police said the driver, Wellington Tejeda, 34, of Lynn, became combative and had to be subdued. Police said they found 1.5 kilograms of heroin inside his vehicle.
Police also arrested Harry Marte, 39, of Lawrence, and Bernardino Polanco, 44, of Tewksbury. Tewksbury police said the arrests were a joint operation with State Police and the federal Drug Enforcement Administration.
Tejada has an active immigration detainer for deportation from the federal Department of Homeland Security, according to a press release.
All three men are charged with trafficking heroin over 200 grams and conspiracy. Tejada was also charged with resisting arrest.
All suspects are due to be arraigned at Lowell District Court on Wednesday.
