LOWELL -- A 32-year-old Lowell man is facing multiple firearms charges after police say jealousy led him to fire several gunshots into the air outside a Powell Street home where his ex-girlfriend was spending time with another male.

Sohan Bun, 32, of 186 School St., second floor, was arrested in front of 227 Powell St., in the Highlands section of the city, about 10:20 p.m., after more than a dozen police officers swarmed to that location due to multiple 911 calls reporting a man shooting a firearm in the middle of the street.

The 911 calls started coming in at 10:19 p.m., from people on Chelmsford Street who immediately described an Asian male in a blue shirt and jeans who was firing shots into the air.

Police said officers found that man still on scene with a .40-caliber handgun and arrested him immediately upon arrival. He was later identified as Bun.

Bun screamed profanities and said he had done nothing wrong as he was led into a prisoner transport wagon.

He was charged with discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, unlawful possession of a firearm, resisting arrest and disturbing the peace, according to police.

He was being held Sunday night and was to be arraigned Monday in Lowell District Court.

No one was struck by the gunshots, and no assault charges were filed because the gunshots were fired into the air, according to police.
