LOWELL -- City police are investigating an armed robbery at Jerry's Food Store on University Avenue in which a masked subject pulled a knife and escaped with cash Wednesday evening.

Police were called to the store at 207 University Ave., at 6:47 p.m., according to Capt. Thomas Meehan.

A clerk described the suspect as a Hispanic male in his early 20s, about 6 feet tall and 170 pounds. He wore a black bandana over his face, a gray sweatshirt, and blue running pants with a white stripe, according to Meehan.

The suspect fled onto Fourth Avenue. No one was hurt.

Tipsters can remain anonymous, but can receive up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest.
