BOSTON -- Independent Jeffrey McCormick submitted nearly 12,300 signatures to qualify for the November gubernatorial ballot on Wednesday, arriving at Secretary of State William Galvin's election division office in Boston with running mate Tracy Post to hand-deliver the locally certified signatures.

McCormick is one of three independents vying to qualify for the governor's race this year. His campaign said the candidate, who lives in Boston's Back Bay neighborhood, collected 1,200 signatures on his own while on the campaign trail.
