LOWELL -- A 76-year-old male was hit by a motor vehicle while crossing Rogers Street and Park Avenue at Tuesday morning.

Police responded to reports of a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle at 7:25 a.m. The man, a resident of the neighborhood, sustained serious injury, according to police. An ambulance transported him to Lowell General Hospital, where he was flown to Tufts Medical Center for treatment.

The operator of the vehicle was present and is cooperating, police said.

No charges have been filed. The investigation, conducted jointly by Lowell Police, State Police and the Middlesex County District Attorney's office, remains under investigation.
