LOWELL -- City Manager Kevin Murphy announced two promotions in the city's Department of Planning and Development late Tuesday afternoon.
In an email to city councilors, Murphy wrote that he was naming Allison Lamey the new director of economic development.
The position has been open for several months after the departure of Theresa Park to Lawrence.
Lamey had previously been serving as the city's community development director.
Chris Samaras, who had applied for the economic-development position, will be promoted to fill Lamey's slot, according to Murphy.
Samaras, presently the downtown/special events coordinator, is the son of City Councilor William Samaras.
Murphy did not say in his email when the two will start in their new roles or what their new salaries will be.
