TYNGSBORO -- Police were combing the area Monday afternoon searching for evidence in a bank robbery at Enterprise Bank on Middlesex Road.

Tyngsboro Police Chief Richard Howe said at 2:10 p.m. Monday, police were called to Enterprise Bank for a large dark-skinned male, identified by witnesses as Hispanic, weighing 250 pounds and approximately 6-feet-2-inches in height taking cash from the business.

Howe said the suspect, wearing white gloves, a black ski hat and a black mask over the bottom half of his face told employees to get down on the floor and threatened he had a weapon though there was not one shown. The suspect then fled the area on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect reportedly ran toward Farwell Road. Howe said police believe he went through the woods and left the area in a silver or white SUV, exiting after jumping into the passenger side of the vehicle.

As of 2:45 p.m., police including the K-9 unit from Westford were on scene assisting in gathering evidence.
