TEWKSBURY -- Demoulas Supermarkets Inc. fired a warehouse manager who has been a strong supporter of recent protests against the new management.
Dean Joyce, supervisor of the Tewksbury Market Basket's warehouse, was fired Sunday morning, according to the website "Save Market Basket."
The Sun and several other media outlets reported Saturday that some Market Basket stores were short of inventory.
According to some reports, employees were told of the move through an emial from co-CEO Felicia Thornton that read: "All, Effective this morning Dean Joyce is no longer with Demoulas Market Basket."
There have been no other reports of other employees losing their jobs, although the company said last week that anybody who failed to do their job was subject to such action.
About 2,500 protesters rallied Friday at the company's headquarters on East Street , a move in reaction to the company's decision last month to terminate Arthur T. Demoulas as CEO -- the latest action in a long-running feud between two factions of the family.
Protesters want Demoulas reinstated, and are expected to continue rallying until the decision is reversed.
