CLINTON -- Five people were injured Saturday night when a hot-air balloon crashed into power lines and caught fire in Clinton.

The injured suffered burns when the balloon went down in the area of Greeley and Brook streets at about 7:40 p.m., witnesses told WBZ-TV. Witnesses reported seeing an explosion.

The injured were transported to Clinton Hospital.

The Colt balloon was attempting to land when it hit the power lines, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. The FAA is investigating the crash.

The crash cut off electricity to about 600 customers.
