LOWELL -- After losing five of their own to Thursday's inferno on Branch Street, members of the local Cambodian community are coming together Sunday at a Buddhist temple for a Memorial Service & Fundraising event.
The event will start at 5:30 p.m. at Glory Buddhist Temple, 24 Cambridge St. Organizers are Lowell Cambodia Town, the Cambodian Mutual Assistance Association, the Family Service Unit of the Lowell Police Department, and the Lowell Senior Center. The fund will be used to assist families affected by the fire. Mayor Rodney Elliott and Gov. Deval Patrick expected to attend the event.
