BILLERICA -- Former town Selectman and state Rep. Brion Cangiamila died on Saturday at age 52. No cause of death was immediately released.

Cangiamila was elected to the state House of Representatives in 1991, part of a Republican wave of wins in the Legislature that year. In 1993, he won a seat on the Board of Selectmen and served two terms. Later in 1993, he decided not to run for re-election to his House seat, and instead ran unsuccessfully for the state Senate. In 2008, he launched a write-in campaign and won the Republican nomination for state Senate, but lost to current state Sen. Ken Donnelly.

Cangiamila served on numerous town boards. He also was active in fraternal organizations, and served as president of the Billerica Sons of Italy.

Cangiamila's obituary will appear in Sunday's Sun.
