ARLINGTON, Mass. (AP) -- Police making a well-being check on an Arlington woman have arrested a man they say fled her home after raping her.
Officers went to the woman's home at about 8:15 p.m. Sunday after one of her friend's said she had received information that she needed help.
A man was seen fleeing through a back door as police arrived, but was caught after a brief chase.
Police say 45-year-old Essie Billingslea was charged with aggravated rape, kidnapping, home invasion, assault and battery, and armed assault in a dwelling. He is listed on the state's sex offender registry as a Level 3 offender, considered the most likely to re-offend.
Billingslea is scheduled to be arraigned Monday. It's not clear if he has a lawyer.
