CHELMSFORD -- Frank J. Trabucco, the former Massachusetts commissioner of public safety, died at Lowell General Hospital on Tuesday. He was 83.
Trabucco, a Concord native and longtime resident of Chelmsford, served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He then joined the Massachusetts State Police and worked his way up to superintendent/colonel. Gov. Michael Dukakis then appointed him as commissioner of public safety.
Visiting hours will be on Sunday from 12 to 4 p.m. at Blake Funeral Home in Chelmsford.
The funeral will be on Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Church in Chelmsford.
