BILLERICA -- Crews from the town water department responded early Easter Sunday to reports of a burst pipe.
Billerica Police snapped a photo showing Kensington Drive flooded with water from a pipe which reportedly burst underground sometime around 6 a.m. Heavy Equipment Operator John Morris said crews shut off the water for a few hours Sunday morning, but service was returned around 11 a.m.
"Some people around here were happy they could get back to preparing for Easter," Morris said on site.
Morris said there have been more than 50 pipe bursts reported this winter in town and they're fairly common.
Sunday morning, crews were on scene working to lay down gravel over the opened ground. Morris said the road will likely be paved sometime later this week.
