BOSTON -- A Chelmsford man with outstanding larceny warrants was one of two people transit police nabbed Thursday in fare evasion operations at subway stations.
According to the MBTA Transit Police, officers caught 26-year-old Michael Lowe of Chelmsford trying to enter Park Street station around 6:12 p.m. by "piggybacking" behind a paying customer -- avoiding the fare by following someone else through the gates.
When officers cited Lowe, they found two warrants issued for his arrest from Lowell District Court, one for larceny over $250 and one for larceny by check over $250.
Lowe was taken into custody and transported to the Transit Police headquarters for booking.
Earlier Thursday, transit police also arrested Hiep Pham, 41, of Boston, after they spotted him loitering at the Fields Corner station, near a fence they say fare evaders often climb over. Pham was arrested on warrants from Quincy District Court for vandalizing property and larceny over $250.
