LOWELL -- The list of speakers for the inaugural TEDx Lowell conference was revealed on Thursday, with talk topics that vary from "The Future of Prosthetics" to "Being Successful in a Typically Male Field."

The 21 speakers will present at the TEDx event, which is an independently-organized, community-based version of the micro-conference platform known as TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design). TEDx Lowell will take place on Sunday, April 27 at the United Teen Equality Center from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Scheduled speakers include WGBH "Beat the Press" panelist Dan Kennedy, "Tough as Nails" star Cindy Stumpo and motivational speaker Becky Curran. Local residents such as former Lowell Mayor Patrick Murphy, Merrimack Valley Sandbox executive director David Parker, Register of Deeds Richard Howe Jr. and UMass Lowell students Kacey Hill, Alexander Martinez-Forte, Greogory Bohenko and Aaron Stafford will also speak.

The event was organized by the Honors Ambassadors Program, a UML student group that represents the UMass Lowell Honors College. TEDx Lowell however is not affiliated with the school.
