The black bear that has been spotted throughout Greater Lowell appears to be heading west.

The bear, observed in Westford and Littleton in the past two weeks, was seen Sunday in Groton, and on Monday in Pepperell.

On Sunday, Groton police fielded two reports, one on Hoyts Wharf Road and the other on Hayden Road. Also, a resident told The Sun he spotted a black bear near Route 40 and Heritage Circle about 3 p.m. Sunday.

On Monday, a bear was spotted on East Street in Pepperell about 5 p.m.

Bears were spotted in several communities in 2013, including Westford, Littleton, Chelmsford and Groton.
