LOWELL -- An unidentified woman with blood on her clothing was arrested on charges she stabbed her husband in the arms inside a Hildreth Street apartment late Wednesday night.

Police were called to 197 Hildreth St., Unit 45, at 11 p.m., when a 911 caller reported his wife stabbed him and then fled the apartment.

Police were still rushing toward the scene when dispatchers updated officers that the suspect was a light-skinned black female, about 4 feet 9 inches, with a short ponytail and wearing a black jacket.

Sgt. Marisol Nobrega located the suspect on Hildreth Street less than a block away from away from where the attack allegedly occurred.

The suspect told police several times "he hit me," as she was taken into custody.

Police said the victim, who appeared to be in his 30s, suffered what appeared to be non-life-threatening stab wounds to his arms.

The identity of the suspect was not immediately available since she is still being booked.

She is scheduled to be arraigned today in Lowell District Court.
