DRACUT -- Jason Rivers, a long-time assistant coach at Dracut High, has been named the head football coach, athletic director Tim Woods announced Tuesday.

Rivers, previously a head coach at Ayer High School (2012), takes over for Jason Houston, whose contract was not renewed after four seasons as head coach.

"This is not a reflection on (Jason Houston)," said Woods. "We just felt this was the right move for us to make at this time."

Rivers is a graduate of Ayer High (1988) and played college football at Midwestern State University in Texas.

He resides in Dracut and is employed by the Dracut school system.
