The Dracut girls eighth-grade travel basketball team improved its record to 19-1 as the Lady Middies cruised past Salem, N.H., 42-25. Dracut dominated all aspects of this game as Julia Otoski (10), Melissa Iannuzzo (9) and Jaxy Marquez (8) bombed away from the outside with some excellent shooting and.Meghan Carney (10 points and 14 rebounds) controlled the action inside the paint. Lilly King (4) and Ashley Armano (1) also scored for the short handed Lady Middies. Andrea Guerrero (4) and Meghan Cox (2) picked up some key rebounds throughout the game.

The Dracut seventh-grade boys grabbed three more wins to up their record to 23-8. The Middies ambushed Andover Gold 50-39 as Mitchell Monette, hot from downtown, lit up the scoreboard with 14 points.

Dracut unraveled and blew a halftime lead against a fired up Billerica squad in a 54-48 loss. The Middies just couldn't match the spirit and complete team play of the Chiefs. Aise Pream scored 12 points and Trevor Usher pulled down 5 rebounds in this frustrating defeat.

Dracut bounced back with a commanding 58-44 blowout over Nashua as Cam McCullough exploded for 24 points. Colby Manzueta (7) and William Peters (2) contributed to the final score as every one of Dracut's players scored against the five-man Nighthawks team.

The Middies ended their week with another strong victory as they routed Reading 47-35 in a very chippy and physical game.
