CHELMSFORD -- Police are investigating a crash in which a 60-year-old Chelmsford man was struck by a vehicle and seriously injured while crossing Boston Road in Chelmsford Center on Tuesday afternoon.
Police were called to the area of 25 Boston Road about 5:30 p.m., where they found a 60-year-old Chelmsford man suffering from what appeared to be a non life-threatening head injury, according to Deputy Chief James Spinney.
That man was taken to Lowell General Hospital/Main Campus.
The driver of the sport utility vehicle that struck the 60-year-old identified himself as Tu Nguyen, 63, of Chelmsford. Nguyen was not cited, though the crash remains under investigation.
"I didn't see him," Nguyen said. "He was crossing the street."
Police said the pedestrian was not in a crosswalk when he was struck. Police did not immediately identify the pedestrian pending notification of his family.
