LOWELL -- Four arrests have been made in connection with a December fatal shooting and two of the co-defendants will be arraigned in Lowell District Court Monday, Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan said.

Ryan and Lowell Police Superintendent William Taylor are scheduled to hold a press conference at 3 p.m. Monday, announcing the arrests and providing an update on the status of the investigation.

Jose Torrado, 44, of 49 Second St., was shot dead inside his apartment around 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 18 of last year.

The incident was one of three shootings in the city in the span of one week.

Police responding to a 911 call found Torrado dead in the building's hallway, with multiple gunshot wounds. Ryan said in December that the shooting did not appear random.

Two arrests were made in Lowell. The other two were made in Nashua and Utica, N.Y., and those two suspects are being held in those locations.

A warrant has been lodged against a fifth co-defendant who is currently in custody on an unrelated matter, according to the DA's office.
