WESTFORD -- Authorities responded Sunday morning to a two-car crash on Route 40 with injuries.

Westford Fire Lt. Paul Lemieux said Westford police and fire were on scene around 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of Nutting and Groton roads to help the people involved. One person was transported to Lowell General Hospital by Westford ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.

Lemieux said that section of Route 40 often has crashes at that area, in a high-speed zone. He said his department was not informed as to the cause of the crash and Westford police could not be reached immediately for comment.

A dark red sedan was heavily damaged in the collision and another vehicle reportedly only sustained minor damage to its front tire.
