DRACUT -- With the temperature approaching the balmy 50 degree mark, a dozen brave souls recently dunked their bodies into the icy waters of a freezing Long Pond for invigorating chills and to raise research money for the American Cancer Society during the 3rd Annual BSM13 Polar Plunge.
"Some people (wimps) are ankle people and toe dippers," said plunge organizer Mike "Marino" Marchionda. "But everyone here goes all the way under for a baptism by ice!"
Marino dedicates his plunges to the memories of his mom and dad who lost their battles with cancer. "I'm just trying to help out as much as I can with cancer research. Hopefully the $2,000 we raise today will help find a cure."
Marino will also be taking part in an upcoming Relay for Life. Anyone looking to support can Google Relay for Life Pelham NH and donate by finding team skeetermarino13.
