LOWELL -- Police said two men assaulted a man on Fourth Street in the Centralville neighborhood of the city late Tuesday night.

Alexander Faria, 20, of Tyngsboro and Anthony Surun, 19, of Lowell, chased a teenager to his home, then assaulted him over a "misplaced" handgun, court documents state. Both were armed with .357 handguns, which were shown during the assault, police said.

Faria and Surun are awaiting arraignment in Lowell District Court on Wednesday. They are charged with armed assault with intent to rob.

Officers were sent to Fourth Street about 11:25 p.m., when a 911 caller initially reported a man with a gun forced his way into a home.

Police at the scene, on Fourth Street near Myrtle Street, said the assault actually occurred during an argument in the street between individuals who appeared to know each other.
