LOWELL -- Three suspects in Monday afternoon's shooting of a 16-year-old have been arrested and are due to be arraigned in Lowell District Court on Tuesday.

Two suspects -- 19-year-old Robert Loh and 20-year-old Jason Rugges -- turned themselves in to police shortly after midnight Tuesday. A third suspect, 19-year-old John Wachaga, was found by police shortly thereafter, was interviewed and then arrested, police spokesman Capt. Kelly Richardson said.

A 16-year-old boy was shot in the area of East Merrimack and Nesmith streets, near the Lowell General Hospital Saints campus at around 2:40 p.m. He arrived at the hospital's emergency room with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds to both his legs, police said.

The three suspects were charged with assault with intent to murder and armed robbery.

The incident was described as a marijuana drug deal gone wrong, Richardson said.
