TEWKSBURY -- A Tewksbury man was arrested Sunday evening after reportedly jumping out of a slowly moving vehicle and getting combative with police.
Daniel White, 30, of 35 South Rhoda St., was allegedly spotted by a caller in the Pringle Street area around 9 p.m. jumping out of a vehicle in motion. Police responded to the area and found White near the road, according to Lt. Robert Stephens. White was uninjured and appeared to be intoxicated, according to police reports. The vehicle could not be found.
Stephens said officers determined White was wanted on a warrant out of town for carrying a firearm without a license and drug possession dating back to last March. When police attempted to take White into custody, he tried to fight a police officer off with his hands. Stephens noted the struck officer was not badly injured in the incident.
White was charged with of assault and battery on a police officer. Stephens said White continued to be held without bail at the station into Monday morning.
