LOWELL -- UMass Lowell forward Joseph Pendenza of Wilmington scored his eighth goal of the season midway through the third period to propel the River Hawks to a 4-3 win over Clarkson Saturday at the Tsongas Center.

The teams were tied 3-3 entering the third period. UMass Lowell had fallen behind 2-0 early in the game before rallying to take a 3-2 lead midway through the second period.

Doug Carr made 29 saves as Clarkson oushot the River Hawks 32-14. There were just four minor penalties called in the afternoon affair between 9th-ranked UML and 12th-ranked Clarkson.
