PEPPERELL -- A 52-year-old Pepperell man is being treated for serious injuries at Boston's New England Medical Center Saturday after his car went off the road on Heald Street Friday night.
A MedFlight helicopter was called in to transport the man, whose identity has not been released, after the one-car crash.
"It was precautionary," said police Lt. Todd Blain. "The first assessment of the individual patient was that it was 50-50. They weren't sure if he was going to survive."
Speed was a factor in the crash, and police are investigating whether alcohol was also involved, Blain said.
Blain said police expect the driver to face charges, though no charges had been filed yet.
