BURLINGTON -- Two vehicles caught fire on Route 3 southbound Friday afternoon, but the drivers suffered only minor, "very minimal" injuries, according to state police.
Minutes before 3 p.m. in Burlington, on Route 3 south just north of Route 128, a Ford Econoline van rear-ended a Ford F-150 pickup truck. The van caught fire because of the crash, and then the fire spread to the pickup truck. Both drivers were transported to the hospital for minor injuries, and their vehicles were towed, according to Trooper Dustin Fitch.
It was a four-car crash in total, as the pickup truck hit a sedan, which then hit another sedan, Fitch said. However, the sedans did not catch fire, and they were not towed.
He said that traffic was stopped for a short period of time on Route 3 South.
