LOWELL -- Police have released a name and description of the suspect wanting in Thursday's triple shooting on Chelmsford Street.

Leroy Mey, a 21-year-old Asian man, is described as being 5-foot-5, about 160 pounds with brown eyes and black hair. He is wanted on charges of three counts of armed assault with intent to murder and numerous firearms violations, police said.

The shooting took place just after 3 p.m., only moments after students were released for the day from Lincoln Elementary School across the street. Three men in a Mitsubishi were shot as the car drove away from the BP gas station at the corner of Chelmsford and Hutchinson streets.

The injuries were said by police to not be life-threatening.

The parties involved in the shooting were known to each other, police said.
