LOWELL -- A 78-year-old Lowell man died from injuries suffered in a two-vehicle crash on Andover Street near Douglas Road in Lowell Tuesday night.

Police were called to the intersection about 8:30 p.m., and the first officer to arrive immediately requested that a supervisor come to the scene even though city police were simultaneously investigating a homicide in Centralville.

Police said Kasey Keo, 42, of 634 Andover St., was backing her vehicle into her driveway when she was struck broadside by a pickup driven by a 78-year-old Lowell man whose identity was being withheld pending notification of his family.

Keo suffered non-life threatening injuries. The 78-year-old was taken to Lowell General Hospital/Saints Campus, where he was pronounced dead.

Andover Street was closed in the area while officers with the Lowell Police Traffic Unit took photographs and measurements that will enable them to reconstruct the crash.

Police said it was too early in the investigation to say whether anyone will be cited.
