WESTFORD -- The Westford Family Funfest's first Festival of Trees celebration will be held this week, beginning with an opening ceremony Thursday evening.

The Westford Regency Inn on Littleton Road will host the festivities, with its atrium and lobby decorated with more than 27 trees of different themes and sizes. Several of the decorated trees have been entered into a judging contest by various town departments, school groups and local businesses. All are invited to stop by and vote for the most popular tree and also bid on select trees to take home after the contest.

The opening reception for the event will be held from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, with light refreshments and a silent auction for the decorated trees. On Friday, at 7 p.m., a "ugliest holiday sweater" contest will be held at the inn's Clark's Pub. Then on Saturday, Dec. 14, beginning at 9 a.m., Santa will be available for breakfast and crafting at the Stony Brook Cafe, also inside the inn. Attendees must call ahead to make reservations. Then from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., piano music will be played with dinner at Clark's.

The festival will close on Sunday, Dec. 15, with a holiday brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. where reservations are also required. Voting for the most popular tree will end at 4 p.m. at that time.

To make a reservation, call 978-692-8200, ext. 520. The Regency is located at 219 Littleton Road. For more information, visit www.westford.com/funfest.
