LOWELL -- A passenger in a van that struck a home at Plain and Main streets in Lowell was taken to the hospital late Monday night, but the driver wasn't cited since the roads were covered in ice when the crash occurred, police said.
Police were called to the intersection about 11 p.m., for what was initially reported as a car into a fence.
A van that was on Plain Street, heading toward Chelmsford Street, drove through a chain link fence and then struck the brickwork at the corner of the house. No one inside the home was injured, according to police.
Roads around Lowell were slippery due to ice at the time, and a thin layer of ice covered Plain Street as firefighters and police responded to the crash. City sanders were sent out to treat roads a short time later, at police request.
