LOWELL -- After strong winds swept through the area on Sunday, most of the lights -- and heat -- are back on Monday morning after widespread power outages in the Lowell area.
National Grid officials say the strong winds toppled trees and caused downed power lines that knocked out power to hundreds of customers across Greater Lowell on Sunday.
As of Monday morning, there were only about a dozen reported outages involving 45 customers in Billerica, Chelmsford, Lowell and Westford. National Grid Crews were out Monday morning working to restore power.
In Billerica, there were a reported six outages as of Monday morning, according to the National Grid power-outage map. Lowell, Chelmsford and Westford each had about two outages.
